We began planning our our "Best Part of Me" project today. Ask your chid what feature of themselves they decided to focus on, and in what ways can they support this choice with their writing. Students were given a co-created rubric to support their process with this project. On our planning template, we wrote out ideas for parts of speech, similes, metaphors, we referred to the 5 senses, and we wrote about a favourite memory. We will begin writing the rough drafts tomorrow!
The class was split into seven groups of three for a Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms project! Ask your child which "right" their group is in charge of created a tri-fold for, and ask about the checklist that they are to attend to! We will be working on these all week. This afternoon, the class shared their completed journal entries on what brings them Peace. Students realized how embedding and editing for parts of speech enhances their writing. Some of our favourite sentences about what brings us peace were: - running outside with my dad - opening the curtains for the light to beam in - the smell of evergreen trees and fresh wet grass - playing with my brothers - watching TV on a soft couch - playing or practicing basketball while listening to music - waking up in the morning to the sound of birds - keeping the ocean blue - is helping other kids how to read - waking up on a cold winter day - playing video games, like Mario Kart - feels like dreaming about junk food - happily listening to the Quran - watching a pufferfish quickly swim and slowly puff in and out - is being able to run extremely fast - a big pizza that I can eat - thunder nights and cuddling with my cats - riding on a horse and camping with my family
