We worked on comparing and ordering fractions with like and unlike numerators and denominators. Ask your child what the rule is when comparing fractions with like denominators (the one with the smallest numerator is the smallest), or when comparing fractions with like numerators (the one with the smallest denominator is the biggest). Tomorrow we will compare fractions on a number line to further reinforce comparing and ordering multiple fractions.
We began our whole class novel study today! The novel is called Silverwing by Kenneth Oppel, and it makes wonderful connections to our current science unit (air, aerodynamics, and flight). Ask your child to tell you 5 facts from chapter one, Shade. We reviewed what strong readers and listeners do, and your child should be able to explain these reading powers to you as well (visualizing, connecting, questioning, inferencing, and transforming). Reminders: - Our second and final day of skiing/snowboarding will be this Wednesday (Feb 26th)! Please help your child to wear/pack the appropriate clothing and to again pack a large, healthy lunch!
