We began learning about the order of operations in math today! See if your child can explain the order: brackets first, then multiplication or division (whichever comes first, reading left to right), then adding or subtraction (whichever comes first, reading left to right). See if your child can solve: 4 + 6 x 5 (answer = 34), or 2 x ( 5 + 3 ) (answer = 16).
We read a poem called "Dear Basketball" written by Kobe Bryant before his passing. We discussed the meaning behind the poem, and the personification of basketball. We talked about how basketball was his passion, and wrote out passions of our own. We discussed the message around living each day to your fullest, and being the utmost grateful for our lives and the lives of those we love. Please feel free to continue this discussion and reflection at home! Our last day of swimming was yet again a great successes!
